The American Heart Association led a workshop at a cardiology conference in Malaysia to reinforce high-quality CPR and basic life support skills.
The workshop at the ASEAN Federation of Cardiology Congress(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela), which took place 17–20 July in Penang, featured sessions for health care professionals on basic life support(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela) skills to perform on adults and infants, as well as how to best manage choking. It was based on the Association’s BLS course(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela), which includes treatment of stroke patients, application of the Chain of Survival, and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) in sudden cardiac arrest cases.
During the second day of the conference, Association volunteer Paul Heidenreich(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela), MD, MS, FACC, FACE, FAHA, spoke at a joint symposium with AFCC on Get With the Guidelines® – Heart Failure(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela): Twenty Years in Review, Lessons Learned, and the Road Ahead. Get With the Guidelines is an in-hospital program for improving care(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela) by promoting consistent adherence to the Association’s latest scientific treatment guidelines.
Heidenreich served as a co-chairperson for the session, which also included a discussion on the Get With the Guidelines® – Heart Failure A.S.I.A.(o link abre em nova janela)(o link abre em nova janela) (Adherence to Science Implementation in Asia), the Real-World GDMT Uptake in Taiwan, and the opportunities and challenges presented by AI in cardiovascular settings.
