The World Heart Federation 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association

During the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress 2025, the American Heart Association’s, Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Brown, was recognized with the World Heart Federation (WHF) 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented by WHF President Jagat Narula, MD, PhD, MACC, FAHA. First presented in 2018, the award recognizes a leader who has meaningfully advanced cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment around the world, and whose contributions span disciplines including advocacy, research and education.
For nearly two decades, Nancy has led with vision and purpose as one of the world’s most influential people in global health. Under her leadership, the Association is driving bold investments in research and science, advancing global education in lifesaving skills and championing equitable health in communities worldwide. Nancy’s remarkable ability to inspire and mobilize volunteers, advocates, and supporters has created a lasting global movement for longer, healthier lives.
Previous honorees include Dr. Sid Smith, FAHA; Dr. Nanette K. Wenger, FAHA; Dr. Eugene Braunwald, FAHA; and Dr. Valentin Fuster, FAHA — all of whom are longstanding volunteer leaders dedicated to advancing the Association’s mission. Nancy Brown was humbled to be in the company of these luminaries and grateful to Dr. Narula and the World Heart Federation for this extraordinary recognition.
